Last Month

What they don’t tell you about the last month of Undergrad.

This has been the most difficult month of my academic life.

Nothing could have prepared me for the emotional rollercoaster I was getting myself into.

If I were to describe it to you, I would say this.

For some reason, you feel on the edge all the time.

A few more things to worry about now that you’re graduating. Finding a photographer for graduation pictures, ordering your cap and gown. Organizing a small graduation party to celebrate your accomplishment and answering a million questions to a million different people about what you’re going to do next.

How daunting!

But c’mon we all do it.

We all ask the new grad, no matter what academic stage, from high school to doctorate level students these basic questions:

“So, what’s the next step?”

“Do you have a job lined up?”

“What are you going to do with your time now?”

After all the hard work you’ve done. It’s still not enough for the local population. You have to verbalize your accomplishments into 1-2 sentences max. Why? I don’t know, I just work here.

But I get it though. It’s exciting !

Out with the old, in with the new. (please don’t sue me High School Musical!)

Here is my answer:

My next plan is to take the whole summer off to be with my friends and family.

In August I will begin my Masters Speech-Language Pathology Program at the University of Utah and see where the wind takes me.

Ask me what I will be doing after I finish my master’s program! C’mon, I dare you!

Anyway, Thank you for reading!

I will talk to you soon,

Love,

Rebeca Britney
