What’s in my Backpack

“True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing.”

Hi everyone, it’s been a crazy semester for me! I am ALMOST DONE with undergrad! I graduate this May 2023, God willing, with my Bachelor’s degree in Communications Science Disorders.

I still have 2 more years of school left to complete for grad school but I’m excited that this chapter is close to an end 🙂

Alright! So after being in undergrad for almost 5 years, this is what’s in my backpack.

  1. Backpack

Okay, so first things first the backpack!!!

Before I started college, I went back to school shopping and in my heart, I knew that I needed a strong sturdy backpack for this next journey of life. I searched everywhere and ultimately decided on the Refugio 28L Patagonia Backpack (similar backpack link). Let me tell you, this puppy protects everything in your bag so well!!! I have walked across campus in some crazy weather like snow storms and heavy rain. My laptop has never gotten damaged from any leaks and my papers have always arrived super clean. This backpack is very versatile as well. I have taken it hiking and on an airplane. I honestly, might take it with me to grad school lol it’s just that amazing!

  1. Pencil bag

For the longest time, I carried all my pens and pencils in one of the compartments of my backpack. This worked pretty well for a while but it wasn’t so fun when I would forget to unclick the pen and ink would go everywhere. Oops! This summer I finally caved and purchased a pencil bag. I don’t know why but finding the right pencil bag was really tricky for me haha! There are so many to choose from and all at a great price. In the end, I landed on the TOPO pencil bag due to its simplicity and space. The price was also decent at $17 for the small size. They come in a lot of fun different colors and I wish I needed more pens and pencils so I could purchase another one!

  1. Gel Pens

Alright, when I study for exams I prefer to create my own notes with pen and paper. These are my favorite pens. The colors are very bold and sharp. Plus the pen overall is super smooth and light to write with. It takes me forever to use up just one. Honestly, if you decide to purchase this 18-pack you might not have to replace them for a long time. As for exams, I still have to take exams on paper from time to time, and I always opt for these mechanical pencils. I don’t carry a ton in my backpack due to space issues but I carry at least two. One for me and one for a classmate. (Yes, people still ask to borrow a pencil in college! Lol!)

  1. Laptop

I never had a laptop until I started college. In my opinion, I would highly recommend you get one. I purchased my laptop in 2018 and it has been my academic rock. With my Macbook Air, not only have I been able to complete all my schoolwork through it but it’s also been amazing for creating fun content on my youtube channel and blog. I have also found it to be really simple to use and very non-problematic.

5. Emergency bag

In the past, I used to carry all my emergency amenities scattered all over my backpack. So when the time came when there was an emergency, I would have ANOTHER emergency just trying to find my item. I’ve learned my lesson and found a simple clear makeup bag and filled her up with all my on-the-go life essentials. My life essentials consist of

  • Rosary
  • Mask
  • Eye drops
  • Eye contact solution
  • Allergy Medicine
  • Dramamine
  • Inhaler
  • Acetaminophen

6. Headphones

When I study or work on my creative content, I enjoy listening to music using my wired headphones from Heyday. You really can’t go wrong with these headphones; the price is great, they come in fun colors and they last forever! I’ve only had to purchase 2 pairs in 5 years. Honestly, for wired headphones, they’re not bad. Definitely a bang for your buck.

7. Wallet

Of course, you should all carry a wallet with you at all times! I just thought it would be fun to share what mine looks like. I bought mine from a small pop-up shop in Huntington Beach when I was a little girl. (Maybe when I was 8 years old? I think…)

The zipper is broken and I simultaneously use it as a coin purse and a wallet at the same time lol. I’m attached to this wallet and I don’t plan on moving on anytime soon!!!
