As my time progresses at the University of Utah and my caffeine intake does too. I have discovered a few new coffee shops that I wish I had known of sooner.

The first one I have to give recognition to would have to be The Coffee Garden on 9th & 9th. The Coffee Garden is unique in the way that they do not offer wifi but instead promote talking to one another in person. Once you walk in you are greeted with classical music. Their atmosphere makes you feel sophisticated in a way other places do not. In one corner you can find groups of friends socializing, independent readers, and even a first date happening all at the same time. The staff is friendly and the coffee is superb. I particularly like their style of cups and mugs. Although, if you are not a fan of coffee or perhaps not in the mood, there are plenty of other options to choose from as well such as tea or pastries. The tea comes in a small kettle so you are free to drink as much or as little as you would like. Overall, the Coffee Garden is a great place to socialize, study, or spend some alone time. There is something for everyone!

The second one I enjoy very much is Nostalgia Cafe. The first time I ever visited the cafe was during my senior year of Highschool. My mom, sister & I had just finished taking my graduation photos and we decided to stop by the nearest cafe for a quick bite. I’ve been a fan ever since! Nostalgia cafe has a huge selection of food and delicious drinks. My favorite thing to order is an iced caramel macchiato and their vegan mac & cheese. The cafe is always full of students from nearby colleges. It is probably the most studious cafe on the list and is open the latest. They open at 7 AM during the week and close at 9 PM. On the weekends they open at 8 AM and close at 9 PM. If you’re looking for a place to study with an academic atmosphere, great food, and coffee. Nostalgia is the place to be.

The third is Java Jo’s. Java Jo’s is a drive-thru coffee shop. This particular location on 1300 E also has tables in case you would like to enjoy your coffee or other drinks outside in the shade. I very much enjoy this coffee shop as the staff are so quick and very friendly. If I don’t order my usual regular coffee with half and half; on a cold morning I’ll treat myself to a triple-tall latte and during the summer I’ll indulge in a smoothie! The coffee here is powerful! Since I am always on the go due to school, work, or hanging out with friends, I can affirm that I happily always purchase my coffee most frequently at Java Jo’s.

Fourth is Bjorn’s coffee. It is also a drive-thru located on Foothill Drive. Aside from their amazing coffee and croissants they also donate to animal charities. You can feel good knowing your coffee is providing you with the caffeine you need and also doing important work for animals!

And lastly, a place I have recently discovered, a little bit on the outskirts of SLC is a cafe called 3 Cups Coffee. 3 Cups is a family-owned cafe that is located in the heart of downtown Holladay. This is the place to be if you want a traditional macchiato and guaranteed latte art. It feels very professional yet also laidback in a sense. You can find people doing important work in the corners or a mom taking out her kids for a special treat. The location here is prime as the light hits the cafe just right.
I hope you find this post helpful for your next coffee adventure with a friend or two! Let me know where you went and what you ordered!
As always, I hope you have a fabulous day! I will talk to you soon.
